Within the framework of the “Reinvent the Seine" initiative, the City of Paris has developed the idea of multi-disciplinary teams creating a new breed of footbridges across the Seine.
These crossings would be both crossing points and living spaces. Not merely connected to mobility, they would be open to various urban uses (staying, working, playing, business…) and would represent a viable business model, while offering an unparalleled opportunity for crossing and showcasing the river. In order to achieve this objective, the City is studying, along with its partners, including VNF and Port de Paris in particular, the legal conditions and regulations for this type of construction under the Local Urban Planning Scheme (Plan Local d’Urbanisme) and the Flood Risk Prevention Plan. The dimensions of these footbridges must respect the surrounding landscape.Three ideal locations have been identified:
Between the 12th and the 13th districts, near the future Bercy-Charenton district
Between the 4th et 5th districts, near the Morland complex and Tino Rossi garden
Between the 15th and 16th districts, near the Parc André Citroën
